Premium MECOFLOCK D280 Flex Adhesive & MECODUR H5580 Hardener for flocking applications.
MECOFLOCK D280 Flex flocking adhesive is a specially formulated two-component water based adhesive, designed for use on a wide range of elastomer and thermoplastic substrates. Because of the large number of different EPDM and elastomer material available, respective pre-tests should be undertaken. We recommend the addition of 5% MECODUR H5580. MECOFLOCK D280 Flex is suitable for use with the following application methods; brushing and pneumatic spraying.
MECOFLOCK D280 Flex requires the flocked surface to be prepared correctly. In order to achieve a good adherence, the surface should be roughened mechanically or plasma pre-treated and all parts should be free from any substances (silicone, oil, dust, grease). Due to this, we recommend MECOFLOCK D280 Flex for those with large amounts of experience in flock application.
MECOFLOCK D280 Flex must be heat cured at a minimum temperature 80°C for 20 to 30 minutes. Once cooled to room temperature, dried parts can be cleaned, mounted and packed. The final cure of the adhesive is after 72 hours.
MECOFLOCK D280 Flex Adhesive is most commonly used for flocking on to EPDM and TPU.

There are various ways to apply this adhesive and the following methods can be used (although some will be more successful after the viscosity of the adhesive has been reduced):
• Paint Roller
• Spray Gun
• Squeegee
The adhesive must not be applied to any part of the substrate that does not require flocking. Those areas should be covered with a mask or sealed off with masking tape.
Adhesive should cover at least 10% of flock fibre length.
The adhesive must be viscose enough to support the flock fibres during the cure.
